Hello!

Thread Starter

I stumbled across this inspiring website accidentally when googling Doughnut Food Trucks.  I was excited to see a thread pertaining to this issue as well as other really helpful and interesting  information.  I have been passionate about food, both cooking and baking, since my earliest memories.  My Grandma was my biggest inspiration.  Everyone in her little town new her by her fabulous potato fried cakes and chocolate molasses (huge) cut our cookies with a vanilla fudge icing.

My dream, after having 2 other careers, has been to do something with food.  I am known both for my baking and cooking passion but I have no formal training.  My bucket list involves culinary education and possible starting a doughnut food truck.  I have one large advantage.  My husband has a food equipment business and we carry many lines, including Belshaw.

I look forward to reading more posts and exploring my way through this site.

I'd say you hit the jackpot when you found Chef Talk. No other community on the web will be as welcoming and as willing to share as this one is! I do have to give you a heads-up, though: as a home cook, you're strongly encouraged to read and take advantage of all the information in the professional chefs' and baking forums. But we home cooks mustn't post there. Posting there is reserved for those who just that: professionals in those fields. The general forums are for our posting, and that's where everyone posts. Rest assured your questions will be addressed! The moderators will help. Please don't hesitate to contact any of us if your concerns aren't being addressed. We're all volunteers, but we do our best to make sure this "food lover's link to professional chefs" is a success. With 13 years under our toques, I think we're doing okay. chef.gif

Many of us would envy what you're undertaking. I took a stab at something similar a while back myself, but my health and other factors intervened to short-circuit the plan. The good wishes of very many go with you for your success! Your story about your grandmother resonates with me as well.smile.gif
