I know that Tramontina's cast iron enameled cookware used to be well regarded, but they have radically changed the design. I've been looking for a four quart braiser, and bought this item from Walmart online:
The finish was beautiful, but the lid didn't fit tightly, which I think is the whole point of this kind of cookware, so I had to take it back. The lid wasn't terrible. If you spun it around for a while you could find at least one position where it made an okay (still not great) seal, but I didn't want to go through that each and every time I used it.
Which brings me to this item:
If the lid has a decent seal I'd gladly pay the extra money for it, but I don't really want to take another chance on a dodgy online purchase. So has anybody tried out this braiser, or any other of the new Tramontina designs? None of the Walmarts in my area carry the enameled cast iron line, so I can't check it out in person.
I have a Lodge cast iron enameled dutch oven that has a really great lid. Seals perfectly every time and doesn't rattle when boiling, but they only make a three quart braiser, which I don't think is quite big enough.
