New User from France

Thread Starter

Hello everybody. I'd like to introduce myself.

I choose the user name Yank because that's what I am. An American living in rural France. (La France profund as they like to say here. Deepest France in other words.) We've been here full time for about 10 years, ever since 'she who must be obeyed' arm twisted my into retirement. It was a good decision actually  & we love it here. We have great weather (We're in the SW region of France), great food both in the restaurants & the market, beautiful scenery, good friends and a quiet clean atmosphere.

I am an enthusiastic home cook. I've cooked all my life, but only had the time to get serious about it since my retirement. I love doing it and cooking for friends. My style is a combination of American, British and French methods & dishes. I've recently started trying my hand at Chinese cookery. I'm finding it fascinating although getting some of the ingredients in this rural area can be a challenge.

I'm looking forward to participating in the forums and to learning from the Pros. I'll try not to be a pain in the neck with stupid question.

Welcome to Chef Talk, Yank.

I’m sure that you’ve already found that the membership here is from all around the world, with skill levels varying from Professionals to Home Cooks and everything in between.

Feel free to join in the conversation or start your own relevant thread.  You might want to utilize the Search bar at the top of the page, as many topics have been discussed previously.

The Articles, Reviews and Galleries are of note as well.  Should you have questions that are not addressed in the FAQ, Tutorials or Community Guidelines, please feel free to post those in the Feedback & Suggestion forum.

A note about forums, the Pro section, folks not employed in the food industries are asked to read only there, but it is very interesting to peek in on what they're talking about.

I feel that the over 50,000 members here at CT are so very generous with their knowledge and always willing to help anyone, no matter your abilities.  Visit as often as you can and check out cheftalk.com on Face Book and Pinterest as well.
