Catering a Bridal Shower

Hi there, we are catering a Bridal Shower for 60 ppl. The food cost is $300. How do I determine the fee for services so we make a profit?

Figure out all your costs, i.e. food, labor, rentals, travel, etc., then add your profit (what you want in your pocket), that is the MINIMUM you HAVE to charge to pay the bills!

For me, using your food costs, my bill (quote) would look like:

  • Food = $300
  • Rentals, um, $150
  • Cook = $100
  • Servers/helpers = 2 @ $80/each minimum = $160
  • Travel = ???
  • My Fee = $400
  • Total = $1,110 MINIMUM!

That works out to about $18.50/person, without knowing more details such as the competition and event details, I'd probably charge somewhere between $1,200 to $1,500, maybe as much as $1,800 if tough conditions.

If you follow the, erroneous in my mind, rule of three times food cost, you'll go broke!

Are they thinking they are getting a $5 meal?
