Can pork hocks be used in pea soup?

Yes, put the hock in along with your liquid and allow it to simmer until the soup is done. Then shred the meat and reincorporate it.

Not only can it be used- it is an essential ingredient in any good pea soup.  Actually, smoked hocks is the way to go. Two or three, cook them as you make the soup then remove them, extract the lean meat, chop it a little, and put that back in the soup. Good eats.

You will often have store-bought"rookworst" or smoked sausage in it. Pea soup is very much an invention from Holland. They call this soup "snert", which is always made with dried peas, a true winter dish.

And absolutely, hock will do fantastic in it!
