best soup pot

I have been a "home cook" for over 35 years.  I cook for a number of people often.  I currently use electric (wishing I had gas).  I am looking for a super large soup (chef grade) pot.  Some people say "triply" and others say, "don't worry about the ply, but make sure it's a 18/10".  Can anyone fill me in on the best (and healthiest) chef, type large cooking pot out there?

How large is large?

 

My go to home soup pot is enameled cast iron----

 

To prevent scorching, get a pot with the thickest bottom possible---even heat across the bottom of the pot is essential with a deep pot---

12 quart minimum non-reactive stainless steel. That usually means 18/10 which refer to the Chrome and Nickel content. 

 

Tri-ply is nice, but not essential for this sort of pot. All mine are disk bottom. Induction compatible is nice as well. 

 

Tramontina is generally the bang for the buck leader in these sorts of things. Walmart on-line will likely have the best price.

I bought a "paula deen" soup pot. It is red in color, and has a white "liner". I use it for clam chowder, and other soups, and I just love it. you can get them at Wal-mart.
