Hello from SoFlo!

Hi!

I'm Tim from South Florida.

I am a 54 yr old disabled man who came to a real love for cooking latter in life.

Although I have been doing some cooking all of my adult life my enjoyment of, and desire to improve, my cooking skills has really only blossomed in the last 4 years or so.

I am strictly a home cook with basic skills. I watch a lot of cooking shows and work at improving my ability in the kitchen.

I am fairly limited in that I can only stand for about 20 minutes at a time and I am hampered by owning a condo with a very small kitchen. Due to financial realities I need to focus on working with what I have although I do hope to purchase a new, or good used, stove in the next few months as well as some better cookware.

I look forward to learning here.

Thanks,

Tim

Welcome, Tim! A lot of us are home cooks too. There's a lot of great information for us to gain here. Your tiny kitchen makes this "interesting", I'm sure! I've seen photos of itty bitty ones in apartments in Hong Kong, New York and elsewhere, so I know you'll have a good number of people here whose brains you can pick for ideas for how to make the most of a teensy work space. I take my hat off to anyone who can make do in a small kitchen!

I have some background with disabilities and also respect the pressures that can put on your desire to be creative and explore in your kitchen. Again, Chef Talk's diverse and extensive membership may afford you contacts with others in the same situation who've found some work-arounds. What a great idea for a discussion thread! I hope you pursue it. My experience is that such adaptations help just about everyone, not only those with alternate needs.

We hope you take some time to explore the whole site and take in the cooking articles, cookbook and equipment reviews, photo galleries and all the great stuff here. We hope you'll visit often, take advantage of the wonderful resources here, and add your perspectives to the mix.

Welcome!
