Are French Macaroons hard to make?

Good stiff peaks on the egg whites and carefully folding in the dry ingredients is really key here to a good macaroon, i have made thousands of them, also making them look perfect just comes with practice so don't get discouraged if they look ugly. Imho it is all about technique.

It isnt that they are difficult because with some practice you will get the groove to make them. 

I just consider that they have a higher fail rate then some other desserts  :p . 

But many chefs and pastry chefs who make them , after some practice always get them to come out perfect.
