New to Chef Talk and need help!

Thread Starter

New to Chef Talk and fresh to the industry! I just completed culinary school in April 2013, I have been working in Alberta Canada for the past year with a large hotel chain and decided to move to a smaller hotel in Nunavut Canada, I am loving my job and everything I am learning however I am looking for some advice with my wrist injury! After having tendinitis at 18 my scaphoid bone in my wrist came out of place which was not discovered until 8 months after the tendinitis and now it will not stay in place and gets very painful the more I work, I have gone to multiple chiropractors yet it never stays in place, i also have tried several different braces. At this point any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a former chiro and to allow the scaphoid (aka navicular if I remember correctly) to remain in place, you might need to refrain from wrist movement as in cutting and chopping.  However, you could have been born with a focal weak spot that may cause the problem to return over time...even repeatedly.  Therefore it might be a chronic problem.   Sorry for the bad news and you have a happy Thanksgiving.

Has a fracture been absolutely positively ruled out???

Best and I'm a foodie.   I know very little but the little that I know I want to know very well.
