I have been in negotiations with a small juicery to prepare soups and veggie burgers in my home kitchen. Then sell the product to them to sell at their establishment. The job is on a temporary hold, waiting for lawyers to deal with liability issues and insurance.
Will I need to have my kitchen inspected? My setup is a main kitchen with a double sink and a second adjacent kitchen(butler pantry) with a third sink. Wondering how complicated this may become. Also what I need to do to be in cocompliance....

You need to check with your local

  • Heath Department for inspection requirements and Cottage Law requirements, generally, the preparation of PHF (potentially hazardous foods, mainly anything other than baked goods) is prohibited in anything other than a  licensed, inspected, commercial kitchen, AND
  • Zoning administrator to see if you are zoned for commercial activities, AND
  • Business licensing authority to verify compliance with Cottage law provisions, sales tax regulations, etc., AND
  • Fire Department to verify fire suppression requirements.

 

Unless you are cleared by ALL four, you will have severe difficulties obtaining insurance and conducting business legally.
