Chef Judy Rodgers passed away

Chef Judy Rodgers died today from cancer. 2 great chefs in such a short amount of time. If you guys don't own her Zuni Cafe Cookbook, do yourself a favor and go get it. One of the best cookbooks I have ever read. She was one of the first (if not THE) proponents of pre-salting your meat, esp. bigger meats like roast chicken and large steaks. 

 

Anyways, she was a great chef.

I agree on the cookbook.  Simple, straightforward with good technique and great narrative.

Yet another great light gone out. Her observations seem so obvioius now, but were a revelation when you first run into them. Trotter was a huge personal influence on me, but this seems sadder in a way.
