Thai Red Curry Powder Screw Up

In need of some wisdom because I am at a loss at the present time. I just brought back some very fresh Thai Red Curry Powder for my keepsake. Sounds great but I checked it all in with my luggage on the flight back home and upon arrival found the dry powder looking like a paste in the plastic bag. I figure that the paste will not store as long as the powder so is there a way to dry out the paste back to a powder without affecting the product? Please assist....

Leave it on the warm stovetop.

Thank You for your reply but does that mean on the stove top in a pan or something like that?? I definitely would not want to cause the powder to become roasted which might break down the flavors. Do you think that a microwave using small batches would work as well?? I had about a kilo of powder starting out which while in the airplanes cargo hold sucked up the moisture which developed the paste that I now have at present.

The container was probably place in the "hold" of the aircraft where temperatures drop to sub zero.  I was originally thinking of just a couple of ounces of powder and in that case perhaps in a slightly warm pan.

OK I will give it a try but will start with only a small batch and then assess the result.

I would just stick it in the fridge. It should keep pretty much indefintely without any loss of quality and no safety issues.

I'm with cheflayne on this one.....i always have several types of thai curry pastes in my fridge and they keep for past forever. As far as preserving the level of pungency and flavor, i think that pastes reign over powders. Consider yourself lucky that the bag of curry powder didn't explode inside your suitcase...that would have been not so bueno....merry christmas to you! wink.gif
