I am looking for a very good Candy Thermometer and would like to know which one is the TOP RATED one?
I make Fudge and have thrown two batches out and it is getting expensive.
I have one but it NO longer works.
The tippy-top-of-the-line would probably be some industrial grade $2000 overkill of a thing; however, my Chocolates and Confections Chef at the CIA used a Thermoworks Thermapen (it was purple) and a handheld one with a thermocouple probe, also by Thermoworks. These came highly recommended by him.

I wrote this on another thread, but it is worth repeating here.
If you stick a probe anywhere in a pot of boiling water, you'll get the same reading anywhere you stick the probe.
With thick, viscous liquids, you'll get different readings depending where you stick the probe: Closer to the bottom will be higher than closer to the surface. If your hot plate is 6" dia. and your pot is 8" in dia. you'll get different (cooler) readings closer to the edge of the pot than in the center, even though your probe is close or on the bottom of the pot.
The size of the probe makes a big difference too. The smaller the probe, the less "sampling" it takes, the larger the probe, the larger the "sampling" area it takes. While electronic probes are precise, they are much smaller than the alcohol filled bulbs.
What all this means is that you should only rely about 50% on the thermometer--no matter what type, and another 45% on the "drop" or ball test, and the remaining 5% on experience.

Thermapen very fast very accurate
I use a thermapen at home for cooking and some of their other products in my work to verify temperatures during sanitization cycles on pharmaceutical grade water purification systems. They are really really good. So although I have never made candy, if precision and quick response is what you need, this is worth considering.
