Hello everybody!

Thread Starter
So, let me introduce myself!

First of all, my name is Jan (spells the way the Dutch spell it, though I'm not even remotely Dutch, just in case anybody wonders smile.gif . I am however from Slovenia (not to confuse with Slovakia as some people seem to do). I'm 18 years old (well, I will be in about a month) and I find great pleasure in cooking, baking, and preparing all kind of food, though the biggest pleasure of all is eating it. biggrin.gif

As far as my cooking skills go, I'm just an amateur home cook, willing to learn new skills.

I have joined this community, because i've found this site to be extremely informative and helpfull when searching for cooking related informations, and I seem to find the best answers right here.

So, that's the end of my quick introduction, and I'm already looking forward to discovering new things on this site! smile.gif

P.s. I apologize for any grammar or other mistakes as English is not my native language.

Welcome Jan!

I too, am a newbie. I look forward to doing a lot of reading/referencing on this website, as well as adding my two cents on the forums as well.

Hope everyone's new year is off to a great start!

A big howdy to both of you and welcome to Chef Talk.

Yup, I’d say that we are pretty friendly bunch.  It amazes me how generous the members are with their knowledge of all things food.  I was searching the `net for an answer to a cooking dilemma about two years ago, and now here I am.  I would have to say though I am a died-in-the-wool-foodie from way back before there was such a word, HA!

Take a lookey-loo around; do keep in mind thought at the Pro forums are read only for us folk who are not employed in the food industries.

Should you have questions in regards to the site itself once you've reviewed the FAQ and Community Guidelines, you can post those in the Feedback & Suggestion forum.

I hope to see you both often, here as well as at Face Book and Pinterest, that’s right CT has a page and a following on both.

Once again, welcome.

Hello,

I too was driven to cook by my passion to eat!

This is a great meeting of the culinary minds,

My background is half Macedonian but it was my Dedo who came from the old country to Canada and thus I was born and raised there.

Since your english is pretty good, I suggest you take a look at Cooks Illustrated.com

I have learned so much from them and my cooking has improved greatly since beginning to read their publications, especially The Science of good cooking.  That is one amazing book.

Best regards and happy cooking

Andy
