Do you need a certificate to be a personal chef ? I live in Georgia I am a home cook,However people are always asking me questions and or for me to come help them when they are having parties or events and i wind cooking  all the meals, this may be a start for me .Just  want to  know any input will definitely help.

Nope.

You WILL need, depending on your local jurisdictions,:

  • a business license
  • a resellers permit (sales tax)
  • zoning approval (home business)

and you SHOULD have:

  • Liability insurance, probably $2 million
  • Food Safety Manager's certificate (not a Food Handlers card)

and you might want to talk with Candy Wallace, Executive Director
