New to the site today. Been PC'ing for the last 14 years.
A Personal Chef Hello ~
Should have known that! There's quite a few personal chefs on this site. I've done it all, private chef gigs, catering, dinner parties. It's very hard work and you cannot depend on your income. Being self-employed is very difficult. I've run the gamut of the personal chef associations and they are not for me.
Greetings from Kansas. I am also a personal chef and employ five other personal chefs. I haven't found any use for the personal chef associations, but know of some other PCs that do. They simply aren't formatted for a multi-employee service. One association's biggest feature is including liability insurance in your dues. That doesn't work for me because my insurance has to cover 6 total employees. The other one's biggest feature is it's recipes, menu planning, and business management software. Most of that is formatted for use by one chef, not a company of them, so its of limited use to me too. Not to mention, the families we serve have such specific dietary needs/requests, we can't really use recipes without modifying them significantly, so we only hire chefs who can cook without recipes and write their own ingredient lists without a recipe.
