Chef Talk app for smartphone?

Thread Starter

Hello Chef Talk,

I was thinking that this website should have it's own app for your smartphone or tablets. It would be very convenient for most people to get push notifications on their devices. that don't have quick access to a computer to browse or post discussions. It would be a great way to extend the community and for marketing the website.

What do you think?

This board does not move that fast.

@Antball Our site looks very good on the mobile and tablet inflections so it is hard to justify the use of a custom app. They are expensive, you have to create two versions one for android and for apple and then maintain them. We may not move that fast but it is because often there is a huge cost to keeping up with the latest technology flare.

Thanks,

Hi Antball...

I come from a planet far, far, away.  Like most people over the age of 45, I need glasses to read a screen smaller than 4", so I don't bother with any screen smaller than that.  I post a lot on this site, make a real effort to spell properly, never use shorcuts or abbreviations, and when I post, I use a "qwerty" keyboard and all 9 fingers.  Oh, I'm missing part of a thumb, (26 years ago, frozen crab legs, bandsaw,& hungover) so the "two thumbs" method of typing is out.

Hope this give some insight

The mobile version of this site is pretty clean. One of the best I've seen, in fact. I just keep a tab always open for this site on Chrome using my nexus and I have no trouble keeping up to date.

Agree with Vic. The mobile site is clean and I get notifications on my phone already via my email. I use my phone on this site quite a bit. An app would only save me one click.

The Tapatalk version is pretty awful, but you can use that for your app needs.
