What is the actual point of the higher temp on toasters? lol

So every time my parents get a new toaster what i notice is we never EVER use the higher temp because it burns it, always the adequate temp is 4 or 5 degrees on all toasters, why have the higher temp when it just burns your toast? lol, the new one my parents just got you have to turn around to toast the top and the bottom but the adequate temp for this one is 5 degrees on the bottom of the bread and then 4 degrees for the other half as it gets really hot quickly, if i used even 6 degrees though there is no doubt it would burn and it goes all way up to 8 degrees, i'm never going to use 6, 7 or 8 degrees.

Why do automobile makers produce cars that will go twice the legal speed limit?

lol i don't see the point when it's super hot at 5, maybe it's to do with the thermostat which can stand higher heat? not sure but it's just one of the many crazy things i notice about products lol.
