Trader Joe's

I love Trader Joe's!  They sell excellent applewood smoked bacon, and I love their seasonal items like pumpkin cream cheese and pumpkin pancake mix.  Their meats are excellent and i love their cheese selection.  Their dried fruits don't contain any harmful chemicals and we buy all our nuts there.  They sellf frozen halibut  fish sticks!  what are some of your favorite TJ products?

Here's a few top sellers:

OH MY GRAVY ALL OVER MY RICE!!! (that's OMG! in my world) I love TJ's!

Over the past couple of years I have started to buy more and more of my grocery list at Trader Joe's, whereas before we moved here, I would NEVER go there.

Have you tired this?

really good!

I like the dark chocolate with caramel wedges at the check out stands. Also the dark chocolate coated cocoa nibs. The cheese bread sticks.

The cheese is fun too, but there are other places that do as well and much closer to me. They do have a good deal on basil generally. And I like the ciabatta baguettes, the Spanish EVOO is pretty good too.

I have a love and hate relationship with Trader Joe's. Last time I tried to use their puff pastry it was a total disaster.... I don't like their cheeses, they pretty much all taste bland IMO. I don't like their beef and their chickens, although I do buy their bacon ends and their rack of lambs. I don't like their organic butter, it's pretty bad. I don't like some of their veggies, but do like others...

I do like their coffee (but then again I don't know much about coffee). I do like their vast wine collection!! I love the fact that they sell cremant de bourgogne:

Enjoyed a recent gag post (hope it wasn't on here!) that showed an earthquake-shattered store wine department, with broken bottles everywhere and the floor flooded with wine. The caption below...

"Earthquake strikes Trader Joe's wine department.   Damage may approach $27.50"

Actually I'm a big fan of TJ's wines and practically everything else they offer.

I go only very rarely, even though one has opened up that's much more convenient to get to for me than the first one in the city. Really the only things I buy there are their frozen petite peas, their frozen wild blueberries, their frozen French-style green beans and their dark chocolate. Sometimes I buy a wedge of cheese but I'm usually not terribly inspired by their cheese selection.  I do much better with fresh vegetables, nuts and dried fruits at the ethnic markets near me. I have a friend that buys a lot of wines there and I've usually liked them but I don't think I've bought wine there more than once or twice when I was already there and needed a bottle ASAP. There's a wine, craft beer and liquor store practically across the street from my apartment which has decent inexpensive wines and I like to support them. There are also two higher end wine/liquor stores in my neighborhood that I like to give my business to.

There are a lot of people lobbying for a TJs to open up in my neighborhood. I don't shop there enough to feel the lack of one nearby and I would hate to see the three wine dealers and the ethnic markets I like to support being hurt by the arrival of a TJs.
