It's finally here. Graduation day after two years of hard work. I look at my books laying in a pile by my desk and wonder how I managed to stay on the honor roll for the entire two years, competing with kids half my age because I WANTED IT THAT BAD AND I GOT!!!!
Now onto the task of finding a job in a kitchen. A friend of ours manages a major hotel and told my husband his banquet chef is leaving and asked him to have me call him. I will call him next week, but will also stress to him that I am a recent graduate, even with over 40 years of cooking experience, don't have any experience working in a restaurant; well, not since I was 16. That said, I am willing, however, to learn everything I possibly can and be the best I possibly can in the process.
If the hotel hired an experienced banquet chef and I could be his sous, I would dedicate myself to learning every nook and cranny of the business so someday, if he/she decides to move on, I could exercise a little professional development and slide right into the spot.
I have my certificates in nutrition and sanitation, and also have a certificate in business management/supervision. I joined the NRA last year.
OMG!!! I DID IT!!!!
