Greetings.  I have read this forum from time to time.  I am a restaurant patron and at home cook.  I host several large events a year and find the information on this site about timing to be really valuable.  It really helps me to learn about how to get things done ahead especially from caterers.

I live in Ridgewood which is a suburb of NYC.  I hope I can also help with suggestions from time to time.

Hello Brian; thank you for the introduction. It's good to hear the community has been a help to you already.

We advise all new members to read the Community Guidelines upon joining ChefTalk to avoid confusion about using the forums. http://www.cheftalk.com/a/faq While all forums are open to all members to read, the professionals' forums are "read only" for us at-home cooks. Your questions for professionals should be posted only in the general forums. Trust me, they will be addressed there. Remember, our tag line is "a food lover's link to professional chefs", and in the general forums is where the link is made. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/thumb.gif

While the forums are rich sources of information (and entertainment, no question!), we hope you'll take time to read the excellent collection of cooking articles as well as the cookbook and equipment reviews. The photo galleries are also worth browsing. Our search tool can help you navigate quickly, but please be aware that with 14+ years of content, you may be taken to a long-paused conversation. It's usually best to start a new thread if the discussion is too old.

What do you enjoy cooking at home? Are there people or experiences that have influenced your love of food? I hope you will share those with us.

I hope your parties continue to be a source of pleasure for you and your guests.

Welcome!
