My name is Jeff, and I'm a culinary student in New England—One more semester and I'll be joining the force. This is a great site, and I'm glad I found it. So much knowledge here. Thanks in advance for all you'll teach me as I continue on this site. Take care.

Hello Jeff! It must be exciting to be so close to the start of your professional life. This community is a great place to help bounce questions and ideas off the heads of professionals, including owners/operators, chefs, and others who work in every aspect of the culinary world. We even have a career board, which I hope you'll take a look at.

Besides the many discussion forums, don't miss the cooking articles, cookbook and equipment reviews, photo galleries and more. There are 14 years' worth of information here, so I'm sure that search tool will get some good use!

What type of position are you hoping to go for? Was there someone in your life or in school who particularly inspired you to cook?

We hope you'll enjoy being part of the community and that being here will enhance your career. Good luck as you finish your formal training and begin your lifelong training.

Best regards,

Mezzaluna

I'll be looking for a position in the savory side of things. No problem starting from the bottom—dish, prep, etc, as I feel that's the best way to learn  all that needs to be learned. I understand that school is school, and that the practical way of doing things in the kitchen will differ in many ways, so I'm ready to accept that there re many things I don't understand at this point. Always ready to learn from those willing to teach. Have a great day, everyone.
