Hey everyone! I'm a Sous Chef at an Inn in CT. Been in food about 10 years now and couldn't see myself doing anything else. Love food and love people in food biz so I know I love this forum! Look forward to getting to know you.

Hello Saucybroad and welcome to Chef Talk. I bet you'll like it here a lot too! If you've had a chance to look around a bit you know we're different from other sites: no flaming, no unnecessary roughness, just lots of good talk about food, cooking and all things related. One very different thing is that we're also home to some eager (and, I must say) competent home cooks. Okay, I meant myself just now  but we've learned time and again pros can learn a lot from home cooks. And the home cooks here are eager to learn from you, too.

Besides the discussion forums we have a ton of cooking articles, cookbook and equipment reviews, photo galleries and lots more. Because we've been around 14+ years, the search tool will come in handy to help you navigate through the thousands of topics here. If you should find an older thread on a subject, though, it might be a good idea to start a new one as the participants may have moved on or the information may be a bit out of date.

Was there someone who inspired you to go into food as a career? Was there a family member or someone near you who "lit your fire"? Maybe there are dishes or ingredients you especially enjoy making. I'd be interested to learn about them.

We hope you enjoy being part of the community, and that you visit and participate often. Best wishes for continued success in your career.

Regards,

Mezzaluna

Thank you 😊
I've always loved food as far back as I can remember. I started in the food service industry at 18 as a dietary aide in a nursing home. I moved up to Cook Supervisor and met a Chef there who inspired me and I just loved the way kitchen life moved! Been in food ever since. I am 34 now and a sous chef at a country inn in CT. Thanks for the welcome!
