Hi There Friends~~

My name is Roberta and cooking is my passion!  I recently moved from Jacksonville, FL to Nashville, TN and joined ChefTalk hoping I could learn more and get some suggestions for a home cooking job!  Can't wait to enjoy this!

Hello Roberta, and welcome to Chef Talk. I'm a bit confused by your tag though: are you a personal chef working in people's homes or a person who cooks in her own home (as I do)? It does make a bit of a difference, as those of us who are non-professionals don't have access to the professionals' forums here except to read them- not for posting.

In any case, we're glad you're here and hope you enjoy being part of the community. The site includes much more than only discussion forums. We have excellent cooking articles, cookbook and equipment reviews, photo galleries and more. The search tool will be helpful as we have 14 years of content here!

How did you become interested in cooking? Was there someone who inspired you? Perhaps you have favorite dishes you like to prepare or ingredients you enjoy working with. We'd love to hear about them.

Let us know if you have questions about the site. We hope you'll be a regular here.

Welcome!

Mezzaluna

Hi Mezzaluna and thanks for the Welcome!  I am a personal chef cooking in peoples homes but I have come to see that in some parts of the country they just call it a "cook".  Either way~~~ I cook and love it!  I'm just having a hard time finding a job here in Nashville that is strictly cooking without cleaning too.  If you or any of the community know of chef job websites I'd be forever grateful!

I started cooking at about 8yrs old because my mom enjoyed cooking as a hobby and my grandmother was our high school cafeteria manager for 30yrs.  I've collected recipes since high school and have enough to fill a small library!  And now I love sharing recipes with other people!  While living in Jacksonville, FL for 20yrs I took advantage of our Publix (grocery store) cooking school!  My favorite class was all about fresh herbs.  Fresh herbs give a whole new taste to any dish!  Even tho I live in an apt I have on my patio my own little herb garden!

Again thanks for the welcome and if anyone has ideas on how I can reach the right people for a job, I'd be so grateful!

Roberta
