Hello, After flying to New York and touring both the International Culinary Center and the institute of Culinary Education.. I was wondering your opinion on both schools? I'll be going for business and baking and pastry. I really fell in Love with ICC and was thinking about early applying. Thanks!!

The ICC is great and its in the heart of one of the worlds biggest food mecas.

The problem is that its soo expensive. Like over 50 grand for 6 months.

Sure you learn a lot and their courses are great, that and they hook you up with some great connections, but its not like you couldnt go to community college or make those connections by working in the industry.

The school is great, i even applied their once.

But in all honesty i think the price is too high, and their are other schools with longer programs that are offering courses at lower prices, while having the same curriculum as the ICC.

My advice....

Before diving head first and applying to the school.

Get a job in the industry, work in a kitchen for at least 6 months to get the feel of things. You will learn a lot, even if your washing dishes, and at the end you will develop an opinion on wether or not you find its worth to pay such a high price to attend an expensive culinary school.
