HOW'S THE FRENCH LAUNDRY???
on reflection- I gather you have to reserve about one year ahead of when you want to dine.
Wonder how the people with reservations for tonight feel?

@MikeLM, you raised a good question....how are they doing. I hadn't heard or seen on the news if they sustained any damage. Would bite if you lost a reservation over the quake but that's one to tell the grandkids.
It's amazing what a difference there is between 5.8 and 6.1. I do understand it has a great deal to do with the type of movement but the scale is so close. We just infamously celebrated the 3 year anniversary of the quake here in Virginia originally on August 23rd 2011. We've driven through Louisa since then and from the pictures on the news, the damage here wasn't close. It was bad and they're still rebuilding but I guess how densely populated the region is certainly has something to do with it.
We were 73 miles (by car or about 60 "as the crow flies") from the epicenter and had close to 30,000.00 in total damage. Ironically, we were one of the few homes affected in our area but that had to do with how our home was built and the location in the area....most of our damage came in the form of a full brick chimney and our home is located in the natural run-off of a a ridge that lies about 40ft-60ft above the majority of the city.
It's 2012 just 2 years too late with the recent volcanic activity in Iceland, earthquakes in China and the fact that we had a very small quake, about 3.0 back in April or May, plus.......wasn't there a quake in OKC just a few weeks ago?.......I can't help but wonder if there is more looming on the horizon. I keep telling my folks to take pictures of the volcano that's gonna pop up around Mt Lemon in AZ. Yes.....I am joking!
