Accident Prevention Method

Thread Starter

Hi guys, i am new in this site, I love to cook and inspiring to be a chef one day. My only trouble is that I am such a clumsy woman. I always accidentally cut my self every time I get my hands on knives and other kitchen tools. Is there anyway for this to prevent or minimize? Is there any tools I can use to protect my hands?

Slow down and pay attention. Learn proper cutting technique.

YouTube probably has lots of videos it's best to see it.

Go to a few cooking classes ask the Chef to show you.

Don't talk/ watch tv as you cut....

Knife skills are the basis of the kitchen.  Pinch and Claw is the key.

This free class was worthwhile as well.

When cutting, do not turn your head away. I am deaf in one ear and read lips so when my sous asked me a question as I was cutting I turned to see what he was saying. I lost part of my fingertip because of a poor choice. Stay focused, curl your fingers inward and keep your head down. Speed will come later but focus should never be lost. If you must look away, stop pushing the knife.

I have the same problem whenever it deals with knives, not only knives but also garden tools. My friend suggest this gloves they call noCry glove it really do help me a lot specially in the garden. Hope this helps, good luck
