Hi everyone!

My name is Mikko, a student currently completing my master's degree in Barcelona!

I have always been fascinated about the culinary world, and one day hope to learn to cook some proper good food!

For now, I do my best mixing up ingredients I find in my kitchen, and preparing them in such a way that the result is edible. haha.

Glad to be here, and I hope to learn from you all!

-Mikko A.

p.s. my screen name is ironcook, inspired from the japanese cooking tv series Iron Chef. if anyone is familiar with it, my favorite Iron Chef was Rokusaburo Michiba. Nowadays, I am inspired by the innovative works of Ferran Adria. :)

Hello Mikko and welcome to Chef Talk. In what discipline are you working on your master's degree?

This community is a wonderful place to learn about different types of cuisine, how to use unfamiliar ingredients and ways to spark your creativity, among many other possibilities. The discussion forums are full of great ideas! You are encouraged to read in all of them, but please be aware of our rule that the professionals' forums are "read only" for home cooks like you and me. We must not post there. (I notice you posted a question in the professional catering forum, but your questions should really be posted in the general forum from now on.) The general forums are where we post where everyone posts, really, so our questions are answered there. Also, sometimes you can get answers simply by searching with our search tool.

But we are more than only the discussion forums. We have excellent cooking articles, cookbook and equipment reviews, photo galleries and more. You are welcome to post photos of some of your creations there as you develop your cooking skills. Have a look there and see what other home cooks have done and how they have developed their capabilities over time. It's fun to see how much people can learn here. In fact, I'm fond of saying the members are the wealth of Chef Talk: we are freer about sharing ideas and advice- yes, the chefs too- than at most other cooking sites on the internet.

I hope you enjoy being a part of this community, and that you visit often to learn and to share your culinary journey. Good luck in your academic adventures too!

Welcome,

Mezzaluna
