Saying Hello

Thread Starter

Hola, I am not a chef, I'm quite picky with semantics and that title is reserved for those who have taught me what I've learned thus far and for those who can walk into a pantry/fridge and throw something together in a flash and it tastes great, but not something they've done 100 times before a real chef has the ability to cook a completely new dish that they've never prepared before on the spot and not stuff it up. I'm getting there, definitely getting there. I've recently decided to take my job more seriously and step up to sous chef after 7 yrs of industrial slavery to my 3rd love of my life, el cosina! This decision however has lead to many hours online doing research, hence my subscription to an online community of hard knocks!

Peace,

-Brett

Hello Brett, and welcome!

Congratulations on your move to sous. Chef Talk can be a wonderful place to sharpen your chops, so to speak. Besides giving you a great way to connect with other professionals in the field, you can also connect with veteran home cooks from all over the world. For instance: you'd like to learn how to prepare a dish from Italy, but need some ideas. Chances are a home cook from Italy will chime in. You may even pick up a cherished family recipe in the bargain. By the way, that's a good reason to make sure and cruise in the general forums as well as the professional forums, because everyone posts there; not only home cooks. ;)

Be sure to browse beyond the forums, too! The cooking articles, cookbook and equipment reviews, photo galleries and more are worth your time. Please let us know if you have any questions about the site.

Best wishes for continued success!

Regards,

Mezzaluna

(I apologize for the delay in welcoming you; life intervened.)
