Paying a one day warrior

What's the best way to pay people that only work a one day trial shift? If I don't end up hiring them do I still have to put them through payroll and fill out all the new hire paperwork? Seems like there's gotta be a better way.

Just give them cash and thank them for coming in.....nothing wrong with that. If you see that the person is fit for the job and you decide to hire them then put them on payroll and do all the necessary things you would do for any new employee. If you don't hire them, then that's the end of it.

Call it a stage, lol. Then it's just free labor pretty much

Casual labor threshold is $600 I believe. You should check with your accountant.
