I have a question to ask you, when did you love to bake or when do you start baking?
Well, this is for my inspiration now since I've a little tired with baking from the failure.
Whatever it was (cake most likely) I mixed it by hand in a big crockery bowl with a wooden spoon.
No (lol) not ancient...
Was taught by my Gma Van and SHE was ancient (miss you Gma!).
She was my first mentor and believed in learning the look and feel of the batter or dough as it developed.
None of that mix on medium for 3 min. for her lolol!
I have already started Grand the older (14 years now and can eat his way thru my fridge in just a few hours) on his cooking/baking path.
Now working with the 4 year old Grand (such a girly girl and loves to drag out the "real" teacups when she visits).
Pretty good at cracking eggs and whisking them with milk and yesterday peeled a carrot with minimal supervision.
Sorry... kinda OT but just so darn proud of her!
I have a couple of Gma Van's cooking pots (dutch oven and a largish saucepan... both with the lid handles replaced with cabinet pulls as the originals became brittle and broke up and fell off years ago).
Use them both almost daily.
Which brings me to the subject of "antique" thingamabobs and doo-dads.
I will pick up the odd potato masher or hand juicer at "junque" stores or estate sales.
I may or may not display on the wall in ever so artistic groupings but if it comes to the point of needing to use it I do.
What is the point of having something that is perfectly serviceable collecting dust ?
