Bourbon cupcakes

I have a Duncan hines yellow cake mix and figured I would make some texas size cupcakes. My sister likes bourbon in sweet potatoes so why not in cup cakes. Not sure if the water should be replaced or just add some bourbon for flavor, what do you think? I'm also using vanilla bean to lively it up. biggrin.gif

I am a huge fan of adding bourbon to dishes as I absolutely love bourbon.  I don't know how well the bourbon flavor would come through in the cupcakes themselves.  I think that I'd rather put it into the frosting for more impact.  Depending on how much you use you might want to burn the alcohol off first, if it is for a mixed crowd.  If it is for adults and those that like bourbon then I wouldn't bother.

I would brush the tops with bourbon or a bourbon simple syrup instead of baking it in, more flavor impact. In the frosting as mentioned above is good as well.

Yes, spray the tops with a mix of bourbon simple syrup and toss a dash in the frosting.

I would not waste cooking with it but let it shine as an accent.

Pete, I couldn't agree more.
