Coffee Urns and Percolators aren't measured by quarts or gallons, but by imaginary 6-oz "cups"

It turns out that coffee urns and percolators and brewers are measured by 4- or 5- or 6-ounce "cups of coffee", which sound deceptively close to what we know as the 8-ounce cup. Anyway, be careful when you're buying coffee products because they might turn out smaller than advertised.

Depending on the coffee blend it used to be 2 1/2 gallons water to 1 pound coffee.
