I'm the most amateur and intermittent of chefs, and I'll be asking the most basic of questions. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Hello Shuy38 and welcome! Are you a chef working in a restaurant? Or are you a home cook? Your description says "can't boil water". Please clarify. In either case, We're happy you have found us and hope you enjoy being part of the community. :) 

 

You'll notice the many discussion forums we have here are grouped by "professional" and "general". Everyone is encouraged to read all forums, but if you are a home cook (as I am), posting must be done only in the general forums. Those who work in professional settings are free to post in all forums. The professionals her are open to participating in discussions and answering questions of home cooks, so all can benefit from their expertise. Likewise, the wisdom of home cooks of all ages and from all cultures can be shared with everyone, too. It's a great opportunity.

 

Be sure to visit the cooking articles, too, as well as the reviews of cookbooks and cooking equipment and the photo galleries. The search tool can be quite helpful in a site such as Chef Talk, which as 15 years worth of information!

 

We hope you enjoy being part of the community, and hope you will come often to share and to learn.
