If you're in Michigan, the Secchia Institute at Grand Rapids Community College has been one of the top culinary schools in the nation over the past 10 years. I haven't been yet, but I hear wonderful things.

Hi there. I live Petoskey, about an hour and a half north of Traverse City where the Great Lake Culinary Institute is located. I've known several chefs that have come out of that school and they are all very well trained and know there food. I've been told that the courses are very well rounded and the teachers are great at what they do. The ninety seat learning restaurant is also fabulous. The only downfall of the school is that I've been told it's expensive. Please bear in mind though that most culinary schools are expensive, so I don't really know where this one falls in as far as price. I've just heard a comment that it was pricey. However, besides the price, it seems that you leave with a well rounded education. I plan on going there for some restaurant management classes this summer. Maybe I will see you there!

Good luck!
