You made the right choice.  I see the bend you're talking about.  No, it's not that serious, but sharpening a knife that isn't flat would bother me.  You shouldn't have to deal with it, the vendor should.

Flip it over and lay it on the box again, or lay a straight edge on each side up toward the spine.  These have an asymmetric grind 70/30 IIRC and that might be part of what you are seeing.  But - if it is bent send it back CCTG has pretty good customer service.
