A day in teh life, or how to use duct tape in the kitchen...

Yesterday, at 13:47 hrs...

(my partner)

"Get in the kitchen, now!"

(Me) Uh-oh.....

"Floor's all wet and slippery, Shelly almost slipped and fell with a load of dirty dishes.  Mop it Up!"

(me, taking in a whiff of kitchen air)

"oh sh*t"....

"Now what's the matter? Mop up that spill"

"it's not that simple, this is gonna be expensive"

"what's it now?

"Grease trap sprung a leak"

"How can you be so sure?"

"Smell that?"

"It stinks like a sewer hole, what is it?"

"Eau du Grease trap"

"Well fix it! Stick some duct tape in it, or what ever you do"

"I don't think duct tape is going to hold back 70 gallons of tepid, greasy, putrid, skanky water"

"Just fix it!"

"You need to replace it.  It's rusted out.  No sense fixing it, it's probably got rust spots all over the place.

"And how much is that going to cost?!!!"

"Well, uh.... say 6-7 hundred for the trap itself, then say, 3-4 hrs of labour and...."

"You didn't budget for it!  I'm not paying for anything!"

"Uh-huh.... well enjoy the smell.  I'll have someone on permanent stand-by mopping up."

(partner screams and storms out)

Got the plumber in today and the rusty festering box replaced by 3:00.

But I still had to deal with the constant leaking all day yesterday and this morning..

And I did use duct tape.........

I need a beer...

Yeah for some reason they don't show that type of stuff on the food network. Glamorous life style this chef thing, isn't it? I feel ya!
