Cooking Show Tryout

@NinaCooking IMO this fact you shared about yourself deserved a stand alone thread!

I once entered a county fair bake off on a whim and was awarded the rosette (best of show) for my troubles.
Was a yogurt and black pepper quick bread baked for a family gathering and having received so many complements I thought why not try.

My SIL (a regular winner at said contest) did not speak to me for many moons lol.
If I had known that would happen would have entered years before lol!!!!

Anyone else (enter a culinary contest, not PO a family member) want to share?

Ha ha that's funny about it upsetting your SIL so much!

I have been in TV for quiz shows, so hope to make it on with my main hobby of cooking or baking!

Such a buzz being on TV!

Yeah the county fair bake off is a hoot.
Usually the same lil ' old Czech ladies winning every year.
Same with the "preserved" section.
I am sure when they are canning they pay extra attention to a few jars of whatever and save for the contest.
Kinda like the judges plates on Top Chef.....

What show was it you tried out for?
Lotta programs jumping back and forth over the pond.
Would be interesting if BBC America carried it.

The cooking show I tried out for was Masterchef - has that one come over to you or is that what your programme Top Chef is?

I've never tried entering anything like county fairs, I will look into that one this summer I think

Yes we have "Masterchef" here.

Sadly though, it is scripted for entertainment over showmanship.

WTF?!? I was just invited (last week) to be a contestant on "Top Chef". I graciously said "Thank You very much.", and declined. I think I'll be needing some therapy.

YES, I said this same thing in a different thread, but I think only 2 people read it.
