Hi I'm new to baking. What recipes would you recommend for me to start out with and if anyone knows any tips or suggestions can you please let me know? Thanks!

cluelessbaker, they're pretty darn tasty! One thing...if you make them, I like to chill the dough really well before baking the cookies. It keeps the cookies from flattening out too much...unless you want that. Occasionally, I'll want them to flatten a little more, such as when making cookies for ice cream sandwiches. Most of the time I make the dough the day before baking the cookies, and keep it covered in the fridge until baking time the next day. Form the cold dough into balls and bake on parchment-lined baking sheets. The baking time might take just a bit longer due to the chilled dough. I do the same thing with most "drop" cookies...oatmeal, chocolate chip, peanut butter, etc.
Also, try to use light-colored, heavy-gauge aluminum baking sheets. You can get some good buys on them at Costco or Sam's Club. I use parchment paper for baking most cookies...you might want to have a supply on hand for baking and cooking in general. I much prefer it to something like Silpat. Anyway, that's probably more than you needed to know!
