Hello I'm John. I'm an Agriculture student in Virginia and I'm not super passionate about my field. I've tried a few things in my major and have had 3 internships in different areas in the field (Forestry, Genetics, Vegetable Production) and none of those seem to spark any interest to me. I majored in Ag because I wanted to have a career that was stable. Back when I was about to graduate high school I was thinking about entering culinary school but decided not to because I did not think that my love of cooking was serous enough and that I did not have the skills to be in the school. Pan over 3 years later in my junior year of college and I don't know what to do. I've looked in to most fields of Agriculture and for the most part, past Pest management, I don't think there's anything I'm passionate about the field. Don't get me wrong I don't mind what I'm doing now(currently vegetable production and pest management) but I don't see myself really enjoying working in agriculture for along time. My plan is to graduate from school and take Culinary classes to see If I enjoy cooking on a more intense level. I'm working on improving my basic skills at the current moment and as far as careers go I'm looking into either catering or working with chefs and local farmers to bring high quality products to restaurants.
Any advice on what I should do or where I should go would be nice. Also can someone show me where I can get more information on basic cooking skills and skills a chef needs.
