How to teach cooking class?

Hello,

I recently started a catering business which has been successful, but I've received inquires to teach in-home cooking classes more than anything else. I've never taught a cooking class and have no idea where to start! Not sure what to charge, if I need to buy and bring enough tools for everyone or leave that to the host, what types of dishes are best to teach? No idea! Any help or advice would be very much appreciated, thank you!

There are any number of things you could teach. I'd start by asking whoever you talked to if there is anything specific they want you to teach.

If not, remember you won't be teaching everything there is to know. Most classes near me teach a few dishes from a specific cuisine or a couple of techniques. In home for one person or will they be inviting others? Just let it be known which tools will be needed like a knife or pari of potholders or whatever and that you won't be supplying them.

You could teach how to make stock, or how to cook pasta correctly or how to make meatloaf  or baked chicken with a simple starch and vegetable. I doubt anyone is expecting to walk out completely knowledgeable about cooking. they just need some encouragement to get started.
