Hello chefs everywhere.

 

I am a complete novice having just started to cook as a hobby which I am enjoying more and more. I've come to ChefTalk to learn and to interface with others who have more knowledge and expertise. I also wish to communicate with other like-minded people. I am English but I live in France.

Welcome to ChefTalk we are glad to have you. What part of France to you live in? My wife and I have been to Paris and love it and years ago I worked in Bourg En Bresse when I was apprenticing.

Hi Nicko and good morning from France.

 

Thank you for your kind welcome, I hope you're having a great week-end.

 

Kathryn and I live near a small country village called Mantilly in Lower Normany (Basse Normandie) about three hours drive from Paris. We are both English.  Kathryn has been to Paris recently but I haven't been there for a long time. If you come to France again you must let me know.

 

I've taken to cooking as a hobby and enjoy it very much, I cooked Indian Food for the local restaurant a few weeks ago, wow, was that a learning curve. The French are not too fond of hot spices so I had to tone it down a bit. The restaurant are now trying to get me to do a Chinese Supper for them, quite happy to give it a go, I suspect they'll be asking for Fish & Chips too at some point. Great fun.
