Looking for Commercial Kitchen for Pet Food Business in NYC / LONG ISLAND AREA

Hello,

I am in looking for a commercial kitchen for Raw Pet Food Business in NY Metro / Long Island area. I am working with a public commercial kitchen however they don't have proper equipments and space for my business and it's very expensive since I am unable to produce in large quantities.

Looking for a place in driving distance from Astoria, Queens. (Something up to 30-35 miles)

I won't be using any type of oven or any cooking equipment so even when we are in the kitchen at the same time it's yours to use all time.

I will need

- Refrigeration Space

- Freezer (to stock between 300 lb. 1000 lb. meat at a time)

- Commercial Meat Grinder (If you don't have it, I will buy one.)

- 60-80qt Mixer

- Space for 2 or 3 dehydrators.

- Steamer

Thanks

Hello,

Welcome to ChefTalk.

Interesting post. I'm curious. Have you researched all the Incubator Kitchens in your area. I'm not in NY but I found quite a few incubators

very close to your area. I really don't know if these would be a fit. I read about the, Organic Food Incubator zip 11101,   344 Kitchen Rental zip 10010, HBK Incubator, Share Oven Kitchen, Taste Buds Kitchen, Entrepreneur Co.  I'm thinking that these are really close to your area. But I've been out of NY for 45 yrs.:D

With the type of product you described have you put a pencil to paper to see if a co packer might be a good fit for you.

Best of luck in your venture.

Hello Panini,

Thank you very much. Yeah, I researched these incubators and actually am already working with one of them. Storage is very expensive with these kind of kitchens. Many of them are vegetarian and none of them has a good commercial grinder or willing to store it.

Unfortunately I am also too small for a co-packer or to rent my own space and build it from scratch. Another reason, I couldn't find any co-packer around here too :)

I used the cook and bake center in mamaroneck, right above pelham in the bronx. Really nice owner, they have a baking section and full kitchen with convection ovens, range, plenty of work space, a walk in freezer i use to store 200+gallons of soup and stock in before we moved it to our warehouse..hall street storage also does refridgerated storage by the palette that's s decent monthly rate depending on the amount of palletes you need..there are a few others but cook and bake had a great space to work in and jeanine was super accommodating and let me store 180 quart stock pots.
Good luck

Yea, I see. Your kind of in the middle. Do you need a meat grinder or a mixer? The grinder attachment for the hobart mixer can whip through some product if it almost frozen. They are also reasonably priced.
