You were in Munich? Great! I was there a long time ago. I started in a so-called "Mexican" restaurant. Finally I dived deep into Bavarian cooking and worked with a chef who was from the Czech border. I had difficulties understanding him. For example when he asked for cauliflower he would not say "Blumenkohl" but "Karfiol". When I didn't know what he wanted he complained "Die Preussen wollen's halt nit arbeiten!" ("The Prussians just don't want to work!") He had a calendar displaying one Bavarian swearword for each day (the Bavarians are as unique as they claim) but although I worked there only for a month I heard them all.
