Smashing guitars (Jimmy Hendrix style) made me laugh. What? No Woodstock? :-)

little trivia

in 67 at the Monterey Fest, Pete Townshend smashed his guitar when the Who were playing. It was pretty crazy, smashing amps also.

It was like a competition, After, Hendrix decided while he was finishing 'wild thing' that he didn't want to be outdone by Townshend so he asked for some lighter fluid. He was playing his favorite Bl. Fender Strat. He loved that guitar, so he got a roadie to switch his axe and he set the replacement on fire with the lighter fluid. Quite a finish. He smashed a lot of Strats but not the special black one.

OH MY GAWD!

I SOOOOOO want to be like that when I, um,

well, I already am old so...

The members of The Who aren't much older than myself and my husband,

I think that being a rocker through life is fantastic!

Keeps you young...

One of the best concerts I ever saw in New York was jimmy hendrix w Janis Joplin (& big brother & the holding co} as the warm-up act. I had never seen anyone play guitar (before or since} with their teeth (etc) lol. What a show!!!!

@Cerise, wow, you are an old one like a few of us here. Hendrix- just naturally knew the guitar. Playing with his teeth, lefthanded and backwards. He could play left or right handed, behind, teeth, etc.

Actually worked a few times when he played. Hard to believe he was self taught. The only part of my life that I actually have gaps in memory was at the Fillmore.LOL wonder why.

Janis, sad she was so bullied early on. It seemed like they were here forever. I think Hendrix was only around known music for 3-4 yrs. Thanks for the memories. If you lived in NYC we were definitely at some venue together.

I have some memory issues from the Filmore West in around 1970.  Don't drink the electric kool aid.

If you were at the Fillmore east, "smoke" was probably in your eyes ;-) I have to go dust off my Jane Fonda workout video now. Lol. See ya.

If you can remember the 60s you weren't doing it right.
