Hey... any of you fine folk have any recommendations when it comes to these? I've always wanted one and I've just about that f*ck, I'm gonna do it, but I need to do a little research first... What machines should I be looking out for? Are they high maintenance? Am I just being a big kid and should spend the money on something else?? /img/vbsmilies/smilies/lol.gif
They have daily maintenance as I recall. Need special food grade lubricants. They have special and high power needs (three phase) to operate the churn. I would expect that in a low volume home setting you'd be having problems with them freezing up in the service spouts.
I'm basing this off what I've learned in passing talking with my friend who is part of Tropical Sno/Soft Ice/Frazzle/Pioneer Family Brands which all markets these sort of products. Mostly in the mix part, but also machinery.
The Cuisinart one you linked to is not really what I'm after.. I'm after something more like this.. Taylor C712-33 http://www.used.forsale/soft-serve-ice-cream-machine , as there is a potential here that it is going to form sort of business plan, after talking to a few friends this weekend. Exciting times!!!
@ cheffyj - did a business ever come together? if so, has it been worth it? i just got an email not too longer ago that: http://www.webstaurantstore.com/47343/soft-serve-machines.html started carrying them and i have been eyeing one up to incorporate into the mix (no pun intended) thanks!
