Broccoli bunch or crowns

Best Market has Broccoli crowns $1.49 lbs. Or bunch $1.97 each. I'm not sure but unlike cauliflower the main stem is eatable not just the flowers so would the bunch be a better buy? Does the stem needed to be peeled before cooking? Might do a broccilo, rice & cheese dish

Broccoli stem is very tasty but the skin is fiberous and needs to be peeled.

I prefer the stem to the floret but you do have to peel it. I would let my available time for prep and the intended use be my guide to purchasing.

... Additionally, I would let the intended audience guide the decision too. I prefer the stem but some don't think it's edible even when cooked an served. Others seem to think the floret is more nutitious. Maybe so but I still prefer the stem.

The stem can be eaten raw when peeled.  Yes it's the tastiest part of the plant.

I usually keep the stems together  when cooking and when served so people who don't want them can avoid them.

the stem would be cut into bit size bits and mixed with cheese and rice so don't think anyone would know. I'm really the only broccoli fan in the house so may just be me eating it. I would put some in a glad container, freeze over night and then seal in foodsaver bags for later use.
