I know the title may be confusing, but for me it would be my phone...more importantly Google Translate which just updated and now does Google Translate Tap. It shortens the translation process.

Not only has it improved by cutting the process, some of my cooks use the camera option which translates written word and the mic option. 

 

 

And lastly, while it is not out yet...i am very very excited for this...It's a real time translation piece...You have to see it in action to fully grasp the awesomeness....Link Below

Ours is a step stool, manufactured for inventory companies. We produce hundreds of thousand dollars of product in 616 Sq. Ft.. So we have to store sundries and non perishables almost to the ceiling on shelves and cabinets.The first 5 yrs. we went through 10 to 15 stools. I finally searched and found a compact-mobile stool. Has adjustable height, side stairs. Heavy duty steel, $ 800.+.. Used maybe, 30 times a day for the last 16 yrs.

Can't live without it. Hard to pull the trigger on it 16 yrs. ago, but certainly don't regret it. It's probably the most respected piece of equipment in our kitchen.

-stainless steel woodworker's 24" rule

-coarse weave gardener's dirt sieve ( for shaking off hazelnut skins from hazels)

-3/4", 2" and 4" pvc plastic piping. various lengths, various purposes

-non lubricated non flavoured condoms.  I fill these with tempered couverture and wrap them around cake rings or other forms.  I use the resulting form as building components for chocolate sculptures

@foodpump , Wonderful tip on condoms. Ultra thin, extra long, wide, ribbed?  Downside, many people are allergic to latex or spermicides.

The cheap kind, thin (and expensive) ones tend to burst. Then again, these things were never designed to hold upwards of 800 grams of couverture... Its hard to find ones with no coatings or treatments of any kind, but then again, I use these for sculptures and/or display pieces, NOT for general consumption.

This is not my idea, its a direct rip-off from one of Wybauw's chocolate books. If any of you have dipped dozens of waterballoons in tempered couverture for choc. dessert bowls, it'not that far of a stretch to move on to condoms. Sausage casings are not flexible enough and leave nasty wrinkles and creases.

Then again, Ive got a rolling pastry crimper I made from a pinion gear out of a 3spd bicycle hub gear, and Ive modified several s/s drywall spatulas for daily use in molding chocolates.

Label and dating - sticks to everything and doesn't leave goo behind, even if the dishwasher leaves it on and runs it through the machine. Also for putting signage and logs on stainless

Pens? I buy bulk packs because no one ever seems to have one, except when I ask to look in the lockers, where there are thousands....

 any examples of the pvc piping? The dirt sieve might come in handy, since we use raw peanuts and the shells are annoying.

"Blue tape" is a type of masking tape used by painters. It sticks really nice but doesn't leave any glue, it leaves a very nice clean edge and it doesn't peal up anything painted underneath it.

As to that use of "dental floss" to cut things ... I used that for a good long while ... until I switched to guitar strings. They last much longer and cut much easier.

Hi cook1st

I cut 4" pvc pipe into 11/2"high rings and use these for mousses or poached cheesecakes. I drape chocolate decorations (when still soft) over various lengths of pipe for a ripple effect.

Regrding condoms, if you read my post, I mentioned it was directly out of one of Wybauw's books. The man is a chocolate genius, but I don't know if he does youtube, I'd guess not. You fill a condom with tempered couverture, wrap it around a cake ring, and let it harden, Use the form for structural support in sculptures.

+1 on the PVC piping, I was cutting the piping for years now to set my deserts. Only a fraction of the price for the metal ones....Also used to use them for plating up before, not so much now as the fashion has changed.....
