Do I see dirt on the floor in the corner behind you? Tsk Tsk.
Just kidding. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/smile.gif
I wonder why you are placing these videos here on cheftalk. Is it because the infrastructure is already set up for you, perhaps? And it's free. No hosting fees or web design to worry about. I mean, aren't there a kajillion how-to cooking vids? Don't get me wrong, I have no opinion one way or another. Just askin' 'cause I must've missed the post where you explained. . .
Also, I cringe every time you push aside product with the blade side. Like fingernails on a chalkboard. I'm no pro, but I quickly flip the knife and use the spine of the blade to push piles around.
Cheftalk allows posting of videos. Cheftalk doesn't host videos. They are hosted on Vimeo or Youtube. So the cost was never on Cheftalk. Vimeo and Youtube allow this for their own benefit and broader exposure. Embedded videos (so far), don't run the ads in my experience so there's no profiteering on Cheftalk's back.
If you go to Youtube and look at Inabox's videos, he does have one that explains most of what he's getting at.
Now, we get a lot of first time posts dropping a link to a first time video at youtube. I delete most of those. They're not interested in participating and discussing here at Cheftalk, Those are all about driving traffic to youtube. Inabox has been very willing to participate and discuss his content. He's not heavy poster like you or me. But he's here, contributing to discussion. That's the point really.
I have to repeat, I don't have issues with InABox posting how-to vids. I was just asking what his motivation was.
Having said that, other posters in the past have used cheftalk as their own personal blog because it has an "instant" audience. You'd have to market your own blog if you want traffic. Whats the point of posting vids if nobody sees them? Also, when you host a blog, it costs hosting money, regardless of who hosts videos, unless you don't care about advertisements littered throughout your web page or limitations in web page design and interactivity.
I'm a heavy poster? I don't even have 1,000 comments over what, 4 years? That's .68 comments a day. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/lookaround.gif
I just post my videos here because I thought I'd stop lurking around the fourm and contribute somthing. I mean we all have our own ways of doing things. My way might be better then yours. But you very well may show me a way that I never thought of that is better then mine.
