Greenherb A Grade Dried Shiitake Mushrooms i bought from amazon and read a review that parasites can be found in these, have you ever found any? I know bugs can be found in anything and the prep should have killed them but who wants to eat them.
You can find all sorts of facts on the internet. Some of them are even true. What was your source on the internet for this info on the dried shiitakes?

Dear Customer,
Thank you for your email. As you will see from all the answers (See more answers), customer did not find parasites in our product. Also, as reflected in the customer reviews, all the users mention our mushroom is cleaned. One customer did mention he never thought about parasites and MAYBE is the reason why they need paramedics. We do not know the specific situation, which has a lot unknown variables, so we cannot comment on that customer answer. Parasites is visible to the eye like growing a white mold in the shiitake mushroom. We have carefully inspected and checked for quality control. There's no parasites in our mushrooms. Once the bag is open, please store in cool dry places for long shelf life.
One reviewer wrote "With dried shiitake, look for large caps that have cracked open as they dry exposing the white flesh within. They resemble puffed wheat cereal." Does it make a difference?
People can say whatever they want on the internet and probably will. Just because a reviewer says it, doesn't make it true. I have eaten, and served, many, many shiitakes, both dried and fresh, to the public. Never had a problem with worms in fresh shiitakes (always bought farmed shiitakes and never even heard of parasites being an issue in dried.
The crackled surface ones command a premium price, mostly on cultural values, not absolute taste. If looks and shape are paramount for your use, then they may be worthwhile. Otherwise it doesn't matter and the cheaper ones are equally as good.
